This programme is for participants who have never used Power BI or have only explored it briefly. It covers the core skills needed to connect data, build reports, and create dashboards that help teams make better decisions. No prior data or technical background required.

Programme Modules

Introduction to Power BI
What Power BI is, how it fits into the Microsoft ecosystem, and the difference between Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and the mobile app. Setting up and navigating the interface for the first time.

Connecting and Loading Data
Importing data from Excel, CSV, and other common sources. Using Power Query to clean, reshape, and prepare data for reporting without writing code.

Data Transformation with Power Query
Removing duplicates, renaming columns, changing data types, filtering rows, and combining tables. Building reusable steps that update automatically when data refreshes.

Building Your First Report
Creating tables, bar charts, line charts, pie charts, and cards. Formatting visuals, applying filters, and arranging report pages for clarity and readability.

DAX Basics
Writing simple calculated columns and measures using DAX. SUM, COUNT, AVERAGE, IF, and DIVIDE. Understanding the difference between a calculated column and a measure.

Slicers, Filters and Interactivity
Adding slicers and date filters to reports. Making visuals interact with each other. Drill-through basics for exploring data at different levels.

Sharing and Publishing
Publishing reports to Power BI Service. Sharing dashboards with colleagues. Basic workspace setup and understanding access permissions.

Final Activity: Business Dashboard Build
Participants use a provided dataset to build a complete multi-page report with at least three visual types, two DAX measures, and a slicer panel. Report is published to Power BI Service and shared with the trainer for review.
